Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

Virtual Worlds is the bridge between community and creativity. It is a representation of reality but with much simpler logic and science. Its advantages used for gaming, virtual prototypes, training programs and medical science. However, lag times, overlooking physic laws, lack of acuity and better tracking systems are some disadvantages that make it harder to have accurate simulations. According to Simons article(1), online medical simulations were used by various universities that functioned the same way as a real hospital and clinic. Students could customize their preferences and run their own offices. However, the online world isn't perfect as many students used the game to do immoral acts disallowed in real life. Additionally, a good computer and internet connection were needed, but many students couldn't afford. In Earles article (2) virtual reality is introduced to Mount Vernon Presbyterian School in Sandy Springs. Students in the classroom can visit places through google maps or do other activities as though they were actually there. Although VR can be used for educational purposes, it is more suited for entertainment.
