Creativity
New media fosters creativity and allows for more user generated content. For example, in the New York Times article "Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critics", Barnes discusses how Disney allowed Youtube to turn animated characters to be turned into rappers. Usually Disney is very strict about copyright issues, but they allowed theses videos to stay because they created so much consumer traffic and views. They were ways for users of new media to customize original characters like Spongebob and break billboard hits. Additionally, the paper "YouTube Traffic Characterization: A View From the Edge" states that the social networking aspect of youtube with web 2.0 allowed 25 million user transactions and 600000 video downloads in 3 months. Web 2.0 allows for more metadata to have more effective caching.
